A.'Title' means a single content unit which can be viewed by flipping pages.

Q.I cannot view the content when I click on the 'View it in Book format'

A.Java software (Free) is required to view the content in Real Book format.
Java is available to download from SunMicro Systems.
If you already downloaded and installed Java, and you still cannot view in Real Book format, please make sure that Active Script has been enabled in your browser.

Q.A title is not shown in two page spread.

A.From the Control Panel, set the monitor resolution to 1024x768 or higher.

Q.Who is allowed to post a content.

A.For both commercial and private uses, anybody can post his/her content, such as novel, essays, photos, comics, illustrations, and pictures, open to public. You can post a title by uploading an original in a single PDF file up to 100 pages, 30Mb maximum. You cannot combine multiple PDF files to make a single title. If the original file is JPEG or GIF files, you can only upload up to 20 files (max. 2Mb a file) per title.
In order to post your title as an open publication, you must be the content's copyrights owner or you have the legal permission from the content's copyrights owner to do so. The following types of contents are prohibited from posted on this site.
1) Contents that violate the public order and standards of decency
2) Contents including Porno or slander
3) Inappropriate contents to operate the BookTen(BookTengoku).

Q.What do I need to prepare for this?

A.All you need to prepare is your content in a PDF file or JPEG/GIF files according to the specifications. No need to sign up for any membership.

Q.What is the most suitable PDF format for conversion?

A.If you are making the PDF file with Quark Express, select the 'standard' for Acrobat, or 'eBook'. And choose 'Embed the font' if you are using any special fonts. If you wish to show your title in the highest quality possible when enlarged or being printed, set the resolution to 300dpi.
You can upload the file up to 30Mb or 100pages. Any page size can be used but it would be better to keep it at the letter size or smaller. If a larger page size is selected, the font will look smaller. Bigger font sizes and darker font color shows better.

Q.How do I post my novel?

A.Prepare your content in PDF, JPEG, or GIF, then click on the 'Post my content' to post your title.

Q.Can I post photographs maybe as an album?

A.Yes, you can. You can upload any photos and graphics via. JPEG/GIF or PDF files to make an album. See also "Who is allowed to post a content?"

Q.Can I submit my content in a Word file?

A.WNo, please convert the Word or Quark file into a PDF file before submission.

Q.Can I post the Word file or text file as a graphic file?

A.Yes, you can convert it into JPEG/GIF data or a PDF file using Adobe's Acrobat.

A.No, it is prohibited.

Q.What is PDF?

A.PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format which is a electronic document file format provided by Adobe Corporation.

Q.After submission, I received an email saying the conversion has failed.

A.The PDF file you have submitted might have been corrupted. Please check and see if you can read the original PDF file using a reader software such as the Acrobat Reader.

Q.What is the most suitable JPEG/GIF format for conversion?

A.We only accept image files in either JPEG or GIF format. The maximum file size for 1 page is 410 X 580 pixels. If it is larger, the pages will be displayed by shrinking the size.

Q.I want to turn of the ' Comments & Responses ' option.

A.You can turn off this function anytime Click on the 'Remove/Edit for this title (Contributor Only)' button at the bottom of the title page. The URL to edit or remove will be sent to you via email. Click on the 'Edit except for content' to turn off this function and check-mark the 'NO' box at ' Comments & Responses '. You can change other functions through the same process.
If you want to delete the specific comment, send the request by email to BookTen (Booktengoku) with its Title ID, your handle name and your email address. We will only delete it for a legitimate reason such as slander or inappropriate content.

Q.I want to post my title in private rather than making it open-to-public.

A.Just check-mark the 'No' box at 'Publish on the site'. Your title will not be posted on the BookTen public site and it will only be accessible through its assigned URL.
Please note that Inappropriate content will still be removed even though it is not open-to-public.

Q.Submitting Digital Camera Photos

A.Copy your photo data from your camera to computer. Click on the 'Post my Content' and floow the instruction to select your photo files. If you have a related website, you can also post a link with your photos.

Q.Can I edit/modify my content after posting it?

A.Yes, you can make changes such as editing image files, replacing PDF file, or changing the publication settings. Click on the 'Remove/Edit for this title (Author Only)' at the bottom of the title page. The URL to edit or remove will be sent to you via email. Click on the 'Edit the content' to start making the changes.

Q.Can I link my title to a shopping site?

A.Yes, you are allowed to put links to a related site, a shopping site and a mobile site on your content page.

Q.Is it possible to place links right on my content pages?

A.Unfortunately, the answer is No for the BookTen application. However customizing feathers such as placing page links, customizing navigational bar, selectable display size, and much more are available through the licensing program provided by RealRead Inc. Q.Can a publisher use this service for magazines and books?
